lovebird; a small, very social and affectionate parrot (genus Agapornis). The name comes from the fact that they tend to form a very close bond with one mate, usually for their entire life, leading to the (false) belief that captive lovebirds must always be kept in pairs. A "mate" can just as easily be a human owner, i.e. if given a lot of care, love and attention, a lovebird can bond for life with their human owner.| syn. 情侶鸚鵡
