According to the latest survey, the number of Hong Kong start-ups has exceeded 4,000, a historic high. Growth is most notable in fintech and AI. Government programmes like Cyberport Incubation and Science Park Accelerator have successfully attracted many local and overseas entrepreneurs.
However, industry insiders point out that high rents and talent drain remain the main challenges. Some entrepreneurs say: Hong Kong's advantages are its international outlook and strong rule of law, but the high cost of living pushes many young talents to consider Singapore or Shenzhen.
Analysts believe the government needs to further lower barriers to entrepreneurship and strengthen Greater Bay Area cooperation to consolidate Hong Kong's position as Asia's innovation hub.
